Regional Champs!

As most of you probably know by now, Austin's U-11 tournament soccer team won the Regionals in Clarksville, TN last month. They advanced to be able to play in the Nationals in Orlando, FL in January 06. WE ARE VERY EXCITED!!!! I can't wait. They actually get to play at the Disneys Wide World of Sports complex! We will also be staying inside Disney, so everything will be right at our fingertips. Not to mention that this event will possibly be televised, so our boys may be on National Television! Needless to say, I am EXTREMELY proud of Austin and the rest of the team! Plus, I was informed yesterday that their team, The Revolution, is currently ranked #1 in the Nation under recreation soccer on the KickIt 3v3 website! That is just awesome to me.

Update on Big Daddy

Todd went back to the doctor today and well, nothing really came out of this visit. He just basically talked to Todd and gave him a diet regimen, new prescriptions and told him to come back next week to have blood drawn and they would go from there. His enzymes were elevated so they are a little concerned about his liver. So I guess we will have to wait until after the blood tests come back to see what we are really going to have to deal with. In the meantime, Todd still has to watch his diet and get more exercise. Only time will tell.

Big Daddy

Todd has been feeling very sluggish and sickly lately so he finally broke down and went to the doctor last week. Well it wasn't good news for us! He was diagnosed as a Hypertension Diabetic. His sugar level was - get this - 561. Keep in mind that the normal is apprx. 70-120ish. They ran a test to check his levels for the past 6 months and apparently he has had this for some time now. He could have had a seizure or went into a coma from this or worse. We were very fortunate that didn't happen I must say!!! Also, his blood pressure and cholesterol levels are extremely high as well. Needless to say, Todd has had to completely change his eating habits! I am VERY proud of him. He has gotten his sugar levels down just below 200. That is still a little high, but it's a great start! He got this report from a clinic here in town, but he has an appt. with a doctor in WP tomorrow that will hopefully be able to get him straightened out. I will keep you posted.

Joke for Today

A college class was told they had to write a short story in as few words as possible. The instructions were that the short story had to contain the following three things:

(1) Religion (2) Sexuality (3) Mystery

Below is the only A+ paper in the class.

"Good God, I'm pregnant, I wonder who the father is."

Lazy Terds

My two lazy terds doing what they do best when they aren't chasing each other!!!Copper loves to pester Kali by chasing her all over the house until she finally just turns around and swats his nose. He then leaves her alone and will just mosey around until he finds something of mine or Austins to tear up. His favorite things are my and Austins shoes!!! But that's ok, that just means that I get to buy more!!!

The Homester

I wanted to give everyone an update about my grandmother, Josie, aka Homie! When Todd and I started dating he always made remarks about her staying home all of the time, so he/we started calling her Homie and it has just stuck with her. We even bought her a t-shirt stating Homie don't play dat game!!!!! She is such a sport. She always stayed at home because she never learned to drive and she only got out to walk with a very dear friend of hers that has since passed a couple or more years now. Things have changed drastically for Homie since that time and it's been very rough for her. You see, she is a diabetic and she never would eat right and when Ms. Ruby passed away she stopped getting her exercise that was/is much needed. Due to diabetes, she lost her right leg from just above the knee. She has moved a couple of times in the past two years, but I feel we finally have her settled somewhere that she will be happy. She is such a strong, bull-headed woman and she insisted she can live alone and take care of herself. I, of course, had my doubts but she seems to be pulling it off very well. She is living in an elderly/handicap apartment complex. She has many neighbors and friends that check in on her on a regularly basis. Plus she has someone that comes in and cleans her apartment and another lady that comes in a gives her baths. I go over there and fix all of her insulin shots she needs and everything seems to be working out wonderfully. I am just thankful that she is now happy and content and is taking better care of herself!!!

Austin Swimming

I have been begging Austin to take swim lessons for years and he never would do it. He has always been afraid of the deep end. Well a couple of months ago he went to Greenville to spend a couple of days with the tournament baseball team he is on for practices because of an upcoming tournament in Jackson. I met everyone in Jackson on Saturday for the tournament. Sunday morning Austin got up early to go "swimming" with some of his buddies. I didn't think much about it because he always just hangs out in the shallow end while the other kids are diving and jumping and so forth. Image my surprise when I go to the pool to watch the kids and Austin says, "Hey Mom, WATCH THIS!" He jumped his little butt right into the deep end, surfaced and took off like he'd been doing it for years. I couldn't believe it! I told Reagan (he was at her house while in Greenville) that I needed to send ATL to her house more often. I don't know who actually taught him, but I am certainly appreciative. I do know that one of the assistant coaches, David, had been working on him and I think that he gave ATL what he needed to make it work!!!
